Cocaine in The White House was a topic I’ve been avoiding mainly because it seems like low-hanging fruit… yet here I am, nibbling on Biden’s banana. In truth I have seen no commentary on this issue which addresses it from a Libertarian perspective, so there is fertile ground to cover.

Up front, we hardly care if the First Son or the president himself is snorting blow. Libertarians have always upheld people’s right to consume the products of their choice. Such choices are one’s individual responsibility, as are the consequences arising therefrom, such as impaired health and judgment. In this case, rest assured that the “red button” under the Oval Office’s desk is merely an urban myth!

The obvious problem here is that the Bidens hardly take the same view as us. Right now as you read this, President Biden’s Department of Justice is kidnapping and caging Americans for exercising these same choices in regards to cocaine and other controlled substances. Worse yet, Joe Biden built a career on the over-criminalization of controlled substances back in the 1990s as one of the architects of “get tough” legislation which has robbed millions of Americans of their freedom and dignity.

Yet Biden’s supporters knew this all along. From the twenty-some candidates vying for the presidential nomination in 2020, the Democratic Party chose the most vocal proponent for the incarceration, dispossession and disenfranchisement of a whole generation of “Black and Brown” men, according to progressive author Michelle Alexander. Democrats picked Joe Biden of all people as the best answer to the supposed racial dilemma nationwide presented by George Floyd’s murder in May 2020. The same progressives who were outraged in February 2022 about media personality Joe Rogan using the n-word in indirect reference on a podcast recorded twelve years earlier, are those who took no issue with Senator Joe Biden doing the same in senatorial hearings. Turns out that the formula “Orange man, bad” will excuse any kind of misconduct for the correct people.

Which brings us to the First Family, living in the country’s 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘦 edifice, wherein every staffer and visitor are logged and searched, yet somehow federal authorities have no way to determine who could have brought the cocaine into the White House. These are the same federal authorities who resorted to geofencing to track down “every person of interest” who had been in Washington DC on J/6. If you’re thinking that it just doesn’t add up, then you’re correct, and that is exactly the conclusion which you’re meant to reach.

By these incidents, mainstream media reminds us that our country is quickly developing a dual track for law. You and I are on the regular track. We lie on a background check for firearms or cheat on our taxes, and we’ll never see the proverbial sun again, but if we are the 𝘴𝘰𝘯, suddenly the wheels of justice spin towards mercy. Our country was founded on the rule of law, yet increasingly we find ourselves living in Biden’s banana republic.
